Football was first introduced to the state of Texas in 1894 when a group of college students from Yale came to Austin to play against the University of Texas. The game ended with Yale winning 2-0.


The first football game played in Texas was at the University of Texas in Austin on November 27, 1894. The game consisted of a group of men from a nearby military academy.


In 1895, football was introduced at Baylor University and Houston College, which were also located in Austin.


The first football team in Texas was formed in 1895 at Galveston College. It wasn't until 1902 when a group of high school students created a football team at Fort Worth's Central High School that football gained traction in the state.


In 1896, football started at Rice University and West Point Military Academy as well as at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.


The Dallas Cowboys are a professional football team based in Irving, Texas. High school football is dominated by teams such as the Texas Longhorns, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Texas A&M Aggies, North Texas Mean Green and more. 


This is an example of how football has been around for a long time and it is not just something that people started playing recently. It has been around for over 100 years.
